Why SolarMakes Sense

The Solar Market Today

According to SEIA Data, there are more than 81.4 gigawatts (GW) of solar installed in the U.S., enough to power more than 15.7 million homes. Over the last decade, the solar market in the United States has grown at an average rate of 49% each year. There are nearly 2.5 million individual solar installations in the U.S., ranging from small home rooftop systems to large utility-scale systems that add hundreds of megawatts of cleanelectricity to the power grid.

Facts & Figures

Growth in Solar is Led by Falling Prices

The cost to install solar has dropped by more than 70% over the last decade, leading the industry to expand into new markets and deploy thousands of systems nationwide. Prices as of Q1 2020 are at their lowest levels in history across all market segments. An average-sized residential system has dropped from a pre-incentive price of $40,000 in 2010 to roughly $18,000 today, while recent utility-scale prices range from $16/MWh – $35/MWh, competitive with all other forms of generation.

PGC Solar Academy

Power Capitol Group’s vision is to bridge the gap that exists between the Solar Industry and the Black community. According to the Solar census 2019, Black solar workers comprised only 8% of the Solar workforce. PCG is committed to making our Solar Academy accessible and inclusive of people of color and those impacted by the criminal justice system.

PCG Solar Academy is a 1 to 6-month certification program intended for jobseekers that desire to enter the emerging Solar industry. Solar Scholars will get hands-on real-world experience. Our full spectrum of courses provides the foundation for success and exposes our scholars to a variety of solar career pathways, including solar design, installation, procurement, sales and business operations. No prior experience is required.

Power Capitol Group’s Returning Citizens Programs provides support to remove barriers for citizens who are transitioning from the criminal justice system to productive lives within the community.
